Lex Meliora is a distinguished law firm based in Kolkata. It was a sole proprietorship founded in 2015, with the goal of establishing a premier law firm. The founding partners who wanted to leverage their legal expertise, created the firm with the vision of offering exceptional legal services to clients. The vision remains at the core of the firm even today, which is now made up of three partners and a talented team of attorneys with diverse expertise in various practice areas. Our goal is to help solve disputes in a cost-effective manner and provide solutions to complex legal issues that are aligned with our clients’ objectives. We specialize in Intellectual Property, civil, criminal, and commercial laws, and provide pan- India advisory services as well as legal representation to clients to whom we cater to via associated counsels across major cities in India.

With our diverse legal expertise, we bring a dynamic approach to our practice. I started my career in a law firm, and now I have come full circle—building one from scratch, but this time, it’s ours.
Starting from scratch is a theme that has followed me throughout my career. In every role, I was entrusted with the responsibility of creating something new, laying strong foundations. But this time, the assignment wasn’t for someone else—it was for us. After months of late-night discussions, deliberations, and planning, my husband Sandip, my best friend Valerie, and I, decided to take the leap and establish our firm, headquartered in Kolkata and Delhi.
Gone is the structured, corporate life—replaced by the beautiful black-and-white world of law, a world where freedom, integrity, and an environment free of unnecessary politics fuel our passion. This transition has given me a renewed sense of purpose and motivation to drive my legal career forward as the Founder and Managing Partner of Lex Meliora.
Meliora—a Latin word meaning “better things”—perfectly encapsulates our mission. We are here to bring better solutions, better advocacy, and better justice for our clients. Our strength lies in our humility, integrity, hard work, and unwavering belief that nothing is impossible. Because we have witnessed countless instances where seemingly impossible situations turned into victories through dedication and strategic action.
